LASHKARGAH (SW): Hayatullah Hayat, governor of Helmand province, has acknowledged that at least 11 policemen got killed in clashes with the Taliban that attacked check posts in the Lashkargah city last night.
He told Salam Watandar that the Taliban attacked check posts in the 8th and 9th police districts. The governor said these check posts were ‘weak’, and the Taliban exploited it. He went on to say the security forces conducted operations in the province’s Marja and Naad-e-Ali districts today, killing up to 25 Taliban militants.
The policemen got killed in Helmand at a time when the officials are reporting a significant headway here.
