KABUL (SW) – The\u00a0US Special Envoy Rina Amiri has said that the Muslim world must champion the rights of Afghan women and girls.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In a series of tweets, she said the Taliban policies denying girls and women education and jobs are not seen in any other Muslim-majority country.<\/p>\n

After months of closure, all schools were scheduled to reopen nationwide to female students above the sixth grade in April of this year, but the Ministry of Education announced on the same day that girls’ high schools would remain close until further notice.<\/p>\n

At that time, the Ministry of Education announced that if the school uniform was designed in accordance with Afghan law, customs and culture, then the girls’ schools would be opened according to the ruling of the Islamic Emirate.<\/p>\n

The decision to close girls’ schools has provoked widespread national and international reactions. The government of the Islamic Emirate is currently under pressure as it has not allowed women to work in government offices either.<\/p>\n
