MONITORING (SW) –\u00a0The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has described the state of Afghanistan’s healthcare system as “worrying” and said that humanitarian efforts were not enough to prevent it from collapsing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has stressed that the organization is working to prevent the collapse of Afghanistan’s health system. He added that humanitarian efforts alone do not meet Afghanistan’s health needs and that the world should invest in them.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Javed Hajir, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health, welcomed the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)’s efforts for Afghanistan’s health sector, but he did not consider it enough.<\/p>\n

“Because the Afghan health system has already become a dependent system, the assistance that is being provided in this area is somewhat good, but not enough at the moment,” the spokesman told Salam Watandar. “As long as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the health sector manage to stand on their own two feet, national and international assistance is urgently needed.”<\/p>\n

Earlier, international aid organizations warned about the collapse of Afghanistan’s health system.<\/p>\n

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said in a report that Afghanistan’s healthcare system was on the verge of collapse and that more than 90 percent of the country’s health facilities were expected to close.<\/p>\n
