{"id":7522,"date":"2021-12-22T14:53:47","date_gmt":"2021-12-22T14:53:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swn.af\/en\/?p=7522"},"modified":"2021-12-22T14:53:47","modified_gmt":"2021-12-22T14:53:47","slug":"overwhelming-majority-of-afghans-lack-access-to-clean-drinking-water","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swn.af\/en\/2021\/12\/overwhelming-majority-of-afghans-lack-access-to-clean-drinking-water\/","title":{"rendered":"Overwhelming majority of Afghans lack access to clean drinking water"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KABUL (SW) &#8211; An overwhelming majority of Afghans lack access to clean drinking water, said officials on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Energy and Water officials say that the lack of access to safe drinking water for Afghan citizens is a serious challenge for the government, and that the Islamic Emirate shall assume its primary responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>Mujiba al-Rahman Omar, deputy minister of energy and water, told a news conference in Kabul today that 60 percent of the country&#8217;s citizens did not have access to safe drinking water. The Deputy Minister of Energy and Water considers water management as one of the basic responsibilities of the Islamic Emirate.<\/p>\n<p>He also spoke about the preparation of a drought and flood management policy in the country and said that work is underway to stabilize areas prone to drought and this policy will be completed in the future.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy Minister of Energy and Water also announced work on the construction of semi-finished dams, such as the Kamal Khan Dam and the Shah Oroos Dam.
