SHARANA\/ GARDEZ (SW) – Over a hundred million afghanis worth of revenue has been collected via the export of pine nut from Paktika and Paktia provinces, confirmed officials.<\/p>\n
Officials from the Paktia and Paktika Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Departments say they have collected over 100 million afghanis within a year.<\/p>\n
Maulvi Ismail Shakib, Paktika’s director of agriculture, acknowledged that 50 million afghanis had been distributed amon people and another 50 million afghanis had been sent to the state treasury.<\/p>\n
As per reports, the harvest of this year in Paktia and Paktika provinces has increased multiple times, but its price is not as high as in previous years.<\/p>\n
There are also pine nut forests in Gardez, the center of Paktia province where the districts of Ahmad Aba, Ahmad Khel, Zazi Aryub, Lajamangal, Samakani, Patan and Janiyakhel are known for it.<\/p>\n
Maulvi Abdul Rauf Saeed, Paktia’s director of agriculture, said 50 million afghanis had been collected in the province this year, which would be spent on various programs.<\/p>\n
According to local officials in Paktia and Paktika, more revenue has been collected this year due to the dominance of the Islamic Emirate and the increase in the yield of the pine nut.<\/p>\n
