KABUL (SW) \u2013 The killing of Fahim Dashti, a spokesman for the National Resistance Front, in Panjshir province has provoked strong reactions inside Afghanistan and abroad.<\/strong><\/p>\n Fahim Dashti, a spokesman for the National Resistance Front, was killed in a Taliban attack last night. He was a renowned journalist.<\/p>\n Journalists and media activists have condemned his killing while hailing his services to press freedom in the country.<\/p>\n Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the National Resistance Front, has said that Dashti’s lost his life struggling for liberty and press freedom.<\/p>\n Sediqullah Tawhidi, the head of the Journalists’ Safety Committee, has expressed grief over the loss of Dashti.<\/p>\n Meysam Ali Nazari, a spokesman for the Resistance Front, wrote on his Facebook page that Fahim Dashti and Abdul Wadud Zara had been killed in a battle with the Taliban.<\/p>\n “With great sorrow and regret, we lost our two dear brothers and colleagues and fighters. \u2018Fahim Dashti, the head of Ahmad Massoud’s office, and Gen. Abdul Wadud Zara, the nephew of the \u2018Afghan national hero\u2019, were killed in the battle.”<\/p>\n According to the Taliban, Dashti was not killed on the battlefield by the Taliban.<\/p>\n Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Taliban, told a news conference in Kabul on Monday that Fahim Dashti had been killed in a clash between members of the Resistance Front.<\/p>\n The killing of Dashti also provoked reactions from social media users.
