KABUL (SW) \u2013 The Taliban has said talks to resolve matters in regard to Panjshir province have failed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a new audio message, the Taliban\u2019s top negotiator, Amir Khan Mottaki urged Panjshir resident to either convince or reject those \u2018still insisting upon war\u2019 from this \u2018small territory\u2019.<\/p>\n

According to him, talks have been going on for some time with the people of Panjshir for a peaceful solution to the problem, but no agreement has been reached.<\/p>\n

According to various pro-Taliban social media accounts, fighters of the group have besieged Panjshir from four directions and captured the southern Shotul district of the province situated at a distance of 125 km from capital Kabul.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the anti-Taliban \u2018Resistance 2.0\u2019 group in Panjshir, Fahim Dashti said on Tuesday that a major Taliban attack has been thwarted. In an audio statememt, Dashti said \u2018heavy ccasualties\u2019 were inflicted upon the Taliban.<\/p>\n

“The Taliban may have tried to try their luck, but luck did not help them and the attack was pushed back\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

In a first, talks were held in Afghanistan’s Parwan province between the Taliban and politicians from resistance movement of Panjshir to resolve the impasse.<\/p>\n

Former deputy speaker of the senate, Mohammad Alam Izdiar, a senior politician from Panjshir, said in a statement on Thursday that a 12-member delegation of the \u2018Panjshir Resistance Front\u2019, headed by Mohammad Almas Zahed, a jihadi commander, met with a Taliban delegation in Charikar, Parwan.<\/p>\n

According to Izdiar, the meeting lasted three hours behind closed doors and urged delegations from both sides to consult over these talks with the leadership.<\/p>\n
