KABUL (SW) \u2013 At least 408 prominent members of the so-called Islamic State (Daesh) terrorist group from 14 countries have been arrested, the NDS chief announced on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Ahmad Zia Siraj, head of the NDS, said up to 299 of these terrorists were Pakistani citizens, who make up 60% of Daesh detainees. He told a news conference in Kabul that a number of women and 173 children were among these detainees.<\/p>\n
The director general of the national directorate of security said that Daesh still posed a grim threat to Afghanistan. He added that although the group operates in small urban groups; but if the countries of the region do not cooperate to manage, it will be revived and turn into a regional threat.<\/p>\n
According to the NDS chief the Daesh detainees are citizens of Pakistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, China, Turkey, Jordan, Iran, Indonesia, Algeria, India, Bangladesh and the Maldives.<\/p>\n
