{"id":2982,"date":"2021-01-28T11:57:05","date_gmt":"2021-01-28T11:57:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swn.af\/en\/?p=2982"},"modified":"2021-01-28T11:57:05","modified_gmt":"2021-01-28T11:57:05","slug":"tpi-ranks-afghanistan-among-12-most-corrupt-countries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swn.af\/en\/2021\/01\/tpi-ranks-afghanistan-among-12-most-corrupt-countries\/","title":{"rendered":"TPI ranks Afghanistan among 12 most corrupt countries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MONITORING (SW) \u2013 In its latest Corruption Perception Index, the Transparency International on Thursday ranked Afghanistan as 12th most corrupt country in the world.<\/p>\n<p>The organization&#8217;s annual report, released on Thursday, showed Afghanistan on the 165th position ahead of countries like North Korea, Libya, Syria, Sudan, Venezuela, and others.<\/p>\n<p>Denmark has topped the CPI followed by New Zealand, Finland, Singapore and Sweden.<\/p>\n<p>The report emphasized that Afghanistan has made significant progress in the fight against corruption since the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n<p>The organization stressed that Afghanistan has undergone significant legal and institutional reforms and is currently working on a number of strategies to establish a commission to fight corruption.<\/p>\n<p>The index, which ranks\u00a0180 countries and territories\u00a0by their perceived levels of public sector corruption according to experts and businesspeople, uses a scale of zero to 100, where zero is highly corrupt and 100 is very clean.<\/p>\n<p>Like previous years, more than two-thirds of countries score below 50 on this year\u2019s CPI, with an average score of just 43.
