{"id":2872,"date":"2021-01-21T11:11:21","date_gmt":"2021-01-21T11:11:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swn.af\/en\/?p=2872"},"modified":"2021-01-21T11:11:21","modified_gmt":"2021-01-21T11:11:21","slug":"ghani-anticipates-restoration-of-the-us-afghanistan-ties-under-biden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swn.af\/en\/2021\/01\/ghani-anticipates-restoration-of-the-us-afghanistan-ties-under-biden\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghani anticipates restoration of the US \u2013 Afghanistan ties under Biden"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>KABUL (SW) \u2013 President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has congratulated Joe Biden upon taking charge as President of the United States of America.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, President Ghani said in these trying times, Afghanistan stands alongside the United States \u2014 our foundational partner \u2014 as it starts anew to restore partnerships for peace and to tackle the multilayered problem of terrorism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfghanistan looks forward to continuing\/deepening our multilayered strategic partnership w\/ the United States \u2014 our foundational partner \u2014 including in counterterrorism &amp; bringing peace to Afghanistan\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n<p>This followed Ghani\u2019s meeting at the presidency with Ross Wilson, US Charg\u00e9 d&#8217;Affaires and Gen. Scott Miller, top US military commander in Afghanistan. According to the presidency, the bilateral ties, peace process and pledges made at the Geneva conference were discussed at the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, President-elect Joe Biden\u2019s pick for his top diplomat said he would undertake a review of a deal with Afghanistan\u2019s Taliban and believed the United States needed means to prevent any resurgence of terrorism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to end this so-called forever war. We want to bring our forces home.
