KABUL (SW) \u2013 At least five civilians have been killed in an air raid in Helmand province, the Independent Human Rights Commission said on Friday.<\/p>\n
It said that according to the commission’s initial findings, an aerial raid on the Taliban in Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand province, hit a residential house, killing five civilians, including three children. According to the commission, five other people were injured in the attack.<\/p>\n
The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (IHRC) said the individuals were members of the same family. According to it, the airstrike took place two days ago.<\/p>\n
The commission called on the government to investigate the incident and ensure justice for the victims. It also called on all parties to take appropriate measures to prevent a recurrence of such attacks.<\/p>\n
It stressed that the war is not a solution and has no justification, and will only lead to more innocent victims and the destruction of the country and more human rights violations.<\/p>\n
It also called for an immediate ceasefire across the country.<\/p>\n
A day earlier, the defense ministry said that it was investigating allegations of civilian casualties in the attack. The ministry said the air force last Wednesday night targeted a group of Taliban in the Basharan area on the outskirts of Lashkar Gah while they were planning to attack security forces.<\/p>\n
