These young activists have expanded their programs to more than 20 provinces across Afghanistan.<\/p>\n<p>Shafi al-Haq Stanekzai, a 25-year-old from Logar, has been volunteering for seven years to raise awareness about the dangers of environmental pollution. He says, &#8220;We want to educate the public about what environmental pollution is, where it originates, the challenges it creates, and what solutions exist to address these issues.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mohammad Mustafa Ahmadzai, 22, also from Logar, says his sense of responsibility towards his community motivated him to volunteer in the field of environmental awareness. &#8220;Unfortunately, Afghanistan is facing severe environmental degradation, and we want to prevent further damage. Our efforts are mainly voluntary, driven by a sense of responsibility and commitment to our country.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tamana Alkozai, a resident of Kandahar, has joined the effort to reduce environmental pollution and improve public health. &#8220;Air pollution causes respiratory and heart diseases and even deaths. It also harms biodiversity and ecosystems. Through awareness and efforts to reduce pollution, we can improve both public health and the environment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Environmental experts emphasize the importance of voluntary work in reducing environmental pollution. Mustafa Kabuli, an environmental expert, says that government support for youths participation in volunteer programs can foster a culture of cooperation within society. &#8220;The government and the Environmental Protection Agency, as an executive and policymaking body, can strengthen the capacities of these organizations and youths through multiple forms of support, helping them play a key role in environmental protection education.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ahmad Farhang, the Director of Public Information and Awareness at the National Environmental Protection Agency, says that dozens of organizations are working voluntarily to raise awareness about environmental pollution. &#8220;These young people play a key role in public awareness and not only work to reduce pollution but also contribute significantly to all environmental issues.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On World Environment Day, Roza Otunbayeva, the Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), stated that Afghanistan is a victim of climate change and urgently needs to adapt, manage resources better, and restore the environment.<\/p>\n<h6><em><strong>ENDS<\/strong><\/em><\/h6>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KABUL (SW) &#8211; A group of young volunteers, working through a local organization, are actively engaged in environmental awareness initiatives aimed at reducing pollution.
