{"id":26716,"date":"2025-01-21T06:12:37","date_gmt":"2025-01-21T06:12:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swn.af\/en\/?p=26716"},"modified":"2025-01-21T06:12:54","modified_gmt":"2025-01-21T06:12:54","slug":"trump-era-begins-sanctions-lifted-on-far-right-israelis-climate-treaty-rejected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swn.af\/en\/2025\/01\/trump-era-begins-sanctions-lifted-on-far-right-israelis-climate-treaty-rejected\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump era begins &#8211; sanctions lifted on far-right Israelis, climate treaty rejected"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>MONITORING (SW) &#8211; Donald Trump has only just been sworn in as the 47th president but the global impact of his second term is already being felt. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From Jerusalem to Kyiv to London to Ottawa, his election victory and the anticipation of a new Trump agenda has changed the calculations of world leaders \u2014 with some far-reaching consequences, reported BBC.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has rescinded sanctions imposed by the former Biden administration on far-right Israeli settler groups and individuals accused of being involved in violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, the new White House website said.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0<em>Reuters<\/em>, the website said Trump rescinded\u00a0Executive Order 14115\u00a0issued on Feb 1, 2024, which authorised the imposition of certain sanctions \u201con Persons Undermining Peace, Security, and Stability in the West Bank\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The US President on Monday issued a flurry of executive orders\u00a0and directives as he sought to put his stamp on his\u00a0new administration\u00a0on matters ranging from energy to criminal pardons and immigration.<\/p>\n<p>Trump pardoned about 1,500 people who\u00a0stormed\u00a0the US Capitol on Jan 6, 2021, in a sweeping gesture of support to the people who assaulted police as they tried to prevent lawmakers from certifying his 2020 election defeat.<\/p>\n<p>Trump signed orders declaring illegal immigration at the US-Mexico border a national emergency, designating criminal cartels as terrorist organisations, and targeting automatic citizenship for US-born children of immigrants in the country illegally.<\/p>\n<p>Trump signed an order to\u00a0delay\u00a0a\u00a0ban\u00a0for 75 days of popular short-video app TikTok that was slated to be\u00a0shuttered\u00a0on Jan 19. The order directs the attorney general to not enforce the law \u201cto permit my administration an opportunity to determine the appropriate course of action with respect to TikTok\u201d.<a id=\"regulatory-hiring-freezes\" class=\"heading-permalink\" title=\"Permalink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1886703\/trump-executive-orders-target-climate-immigration-policy-federal-employees#regulatory-hiring-freezes\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Trump also signed a withdrawal from the Paris climate treaty, including a letter to the United Nations explaining the withdrawal.<\/p>\n<p>Another order withdrew the United States from the World Health Organisation, saying the global health agency had mishandled the Covid-19 pandemic and other international health crises.<\/p>\n<p>Trump signed an executive action to create an advisory group called the Department of Government Efficiency aimed at carrying out dramatic cuts to the US government, attracting immediate lawsuits challenging its operations.<\/p>\n<p>The group \u2014 dubbed \u201cDOGE\u201d \u2014 is\u00a0being run\u00a0by Tesla CEO Elon Musk and has grandiose goals of eliminating entire federal agencies and cutting three quarters of federal government jobs.<\/p>\n<p>The president signed a document \u201cending weaponisation\u201d of government against political opponents.
