The speech came the afternoon after Trump surged past the 270 votes needed to win the electoral college, in a stunning political comeback\u00a0nearly four years after his refusal to concede power incited a violent attack on the seat of American government.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">\u201cWhile I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign,\u201d said Harris, her voice hoarse after a whirlwind 107-day campaign. \u201cHear me when I say: the light of America\u2019s promise will always burn bright, as long as we never give up.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-slot-container \">\n<div id=\"dfp-ad--inline1\" class=\"js-ad-slot ad-slot ad-slot--inline ad-slot--inline1 ad-slot--rendered\" data-link-name=\"ad slot inline1\" data-name=\"inline1\" aria-hidden=\"true\" data-google-query-id=\"CPeGzsqCyYkDFSiQrAId8p0GnA\" data-label-show=\"true\">Unlike in 2016, when Trump won a shock electoral victory against Hillary Clinton but lost the popular vote, he will return to power with what he called an \u201cunprecedented and powerful mandate\u201d.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"dcr-1eu361v\">Republicans easily flipped the US Senate, and they appeared within range of keeping control of the US House, a scenario that would give Trump\u2019s party control of all levels of elected government in Washington.<\/p>\n<p>Donald Trump has passed the threshold to be elected President of the United States. He\u00a0needed 270 electoral college votes to win and is now projected to have won at least 295 after he flipped Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia and Wisconsin, all vital swing states.<\/p>\n<p>Kamala Harris was currently on 226.
