KABUL (SW) \u2013 The Afghanistan Human Rights Commission on Saturday claimed the deadly blast in Ghazni that killed scores of civilians was caused by an un-exploded mortar, not explosives hidden in a motorcycle.<\/p>\n
The AIHRC said in a statement that the children had brought this unexploded mortar before a scrap dealer to buy toys in return.<\/p>\n
A day earlier, the explosion in Ghanzi province killed at least 15 civilians and injured 20 others.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Interior spokesman, Tariq Arian, said in a statement that a motorcycle exploded at a residential home in Gilan district killed the children. He added a gathering for the recitation of the Holy Quran was underway at the time of the attack.<\/p>\n
The provincial governor\u2019s spokesman Wahidullah Jumazada said most of the victims are children.<\/p>\n
There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahed said in a statement that the blast was caused by an unexploded mortar shell the children wished to sell as scrap<\/p>\n
The AIHRC has said that children and women in particular have suffered immensely from such unexploded ordinance in places like Ghazni, Kabul, Uruzgan, Kandahar, Maidan Wardak and other restive provinces.<\/p>\n
