They claim this method is less burdensome than natural childbirth.

Nasima, who has undergone a cesarean section, shared her experience with Salam Watandar, saying that natural birth can be more painful for mothers.

“I, unfortunately, don’t have experience with natural childbirth as I had to undergo a cesarean. Due to the fact that I don’t succeed in giving birth naturally, and this may not be a good for me; But I like natural birth a lot,” she said.

Narges, who is about to experience her second cesarean, described it as a significant challenge. “This is my second surgery, and I’ve faced many difficulties, from post-operative pain to a long recovery period. Every time I give birth, I must have a cesarean, and I feel like I’m facing a huge challenge. The doctors told me I can no longer have natural births,” she explained.

Likewise, Ferishta, who had her first child through cesarean, finds this method more manageable.

“After having my first child via cesarean, I realized that it was much easier for me. I haven’t experienced the pain of natural childbirth. For me, cesarean is a more suitable option due to its comfort and the lack of severe pain,” she noted, adding that she plans to choose this method for future births as well.

Latifa Zahed, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology based in Kabul, confirmed the rising rates of cesarean deliveries.

She said, “The numbers of cesarean sections have significantly increased compared to previous years. A few years ago, we had about 5 to 7 cesareans a month; now we perform 40 to 50 each month,” she said.

Fahima Sekandari, another obstetrics specialist from Kabul, mentioned that while some women are compelled to choose cesarean deliveries due to medical necessity, others opt for them based on personal preference.

“Approximately 15% of our patients are candidates for cesareans each month. Some women request cesareans voluntarily, while others have no choice,” she confirmed.

Despite the doctors asserts on increasing trend of caesarean births, the Ministry of Public Health has not published any statistics or provided clear responses on the matter.

The World Health Organization (WHO), however, has previously warned that cesarean deliveries without medical justification are rising, particularly among affluent segments of society.

ENDS

KABUL (SW) – Healthcare professionals in Kabul report a significant increase in cesarean births this year compared to previous years.

[990,16,218,24,6,7

post-23638","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-latest","category-report","category-health","category-women","category-afghanistan","category-headline
["GET
