{"id":19758,"date":"2024-04-15T05:11:03","date_gmt":"2024-04-15T05:11:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swn.af\/en\/?p=19758"},"modified":"2024-04-15T05:29:10","modified_gmt":"2024-04-15T05:29:10","slug":"devastating-flash-floods-in-some-afghan-provinces-claim-33-lives-injure-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swn.af\/en\/2024\/04\/devastating-flash-floods-in-some-afghan-provinces-claim-33-lives-injure-27\/","title":{"rendered":"Devastating flash floods in some Afghan provinces claim 33 lives, injure 27"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>KABUL (SW) &#8211; Officials at the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) have stated that as a result of recent floods in the past three days in 17 provinces, 33 people have been died and 27 others were injured.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mohammad Abdullahjan Sayeq, the spokesperson for ANDMA, said that the recent floods have caused the most damage to residents in Kandahar. &#8220;The recent floods were in Kandahar, Takhar, Zabul, Parwan, Nangarhar, Helmand, Kabul, Khost, Daikundi, Kunar, Kapisa, Panjshir, Paktika, Paktia, Logar, Laghman, and Herat provinces,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Sayeq also mentioned that 606 residential houses have been destroyed due to the recent floods, and 200 livestock and 950 jeribs of agricultural land have also been lost.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the flood victims ask the de-facto government and relief agencies to address their situation.<\/p>\n<p>Abdulrahman, a resident of Helmand, said, &#8220;My agricultural lands were over 2.5 jeribs, where I had used more than 150,000 Afghanis, all of which were lost due to the flood. We ask the government to help us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mohammad, a resident of Kapisa, also saids, &#8220;About 50 families have been affected, and more than 100 jeribs of lands have been destroyed; communication routes were closed for four to five hours.
