KANDAHAR CITY (SW) \u2013 A mini-truck bombing in a remote part of Kandahar\u2019s Maiwand district has damaged two public schools, officials said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
According to the provincial directorate of education, a team visited the site of the attack and brought back a detailed report about the damage. Spokesman for the directorate of education, Nazar Mohammad Samimi said the incident took place two days ago near the police headquarters in Maiwand.<\/p>\n
The mini-truck bombing killed four people and injured 40 others.<\/p>\n
According to Samimi the Malala Maiwandi and Ghazi Ayub Khan schools have been devastated by the heavy blast. A total of 18 schools are functioning in Kandahar\u2019s Maiwand district where some 4300 boys and girls are enrolled.<\/p>\n
Located on the main Kandahar \u2013 Herat highway, the Maiwand district of Kandahar has witnessed a surge in violent clashes between the security forces and the Taliban.<\/p>\n
