{"id":17685,"date":"2024-01-20T04:48:53","date_gmt":"2024-01-20T04:48:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swn.af\/en\/?p=17685"},"modified":"2024-01-20T04:48:53","modified_gmt":"2024-01-20T04:48:53","slug":"israel-hamas-war-two-mothers-killed-every-hour-in-gaza-un","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swn.af\/en\/2024\/01\/israel-hamas-war-two-mothers-killed-every-hour-in-gaza-un\/","title":{"rendered":"Israel-Hamas war: \u2018Two mothers killed every hour\u2019 in Gaza \u2013 UN"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>MONITOIRNG (SW) &#8211; On Friday, the UN Women\u2019s agency said that two mothers are killed every hour in Israel\u2019s war on Gaza.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The UN Women\u2019s agency executive director Sima Bahous warns of \u201cgenerational trauma\u201d on Palestinians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have seen evidenced once more that women and children are the first victims of conflict.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the agency, around 70% of those killed are estimated to be women and children.<\/p>\n<p>UN Women reported on the social media platform X that nearly 3,000 women have been widowed.<\/p>\n<p>Some one million women and girls are displaced, starving, scared, searching for safety where there is none, according to UN Women.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have seen unparalleled destruction rained on the people of #Gaza. For them, there is no place of safety or respite,\u201d said Bahous.<\/p>\n<h3>New mothers are suffering in Gaza<\/h3>\n<p>The war is particularly brutal for pregnant women in the war-torn Palestinian territory.<\/p>\n<p>The mother of two-month-old Muaaz was caught in an Israeli air strike in Gaza\u2019s Jabalia refugee camp while pregnant.<\/p>\n<p>The Israeli missile levelled the expectant mother\u2019s home and she was lucky to have survived, digging herself out from beneath the rubble and debris along with her one-year-old son.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The people of #Gaza need unhindered relief.
