KABUL (SW) \u2013 Second vice president Sarwar Danish on Monday urged the new US administration under president-elect Joe Biden to reconsider the ongoing peace talks with the Taliban.<\/p>\n
Addressing a conference here, Danish blamed the Taliban for being the main obstacle to progress in the peace process. He said the insurgents did not believe in a peaceful solution to the conflict. He added that the Taliban were the main culprits behind deadlock in the Doha talks.<\/p>\n
According to him, the stalemate in the Doha talks has made people lose trust in the peace process and the government of Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
The second vice president went on to say that the released Taliban prisoners have returned to the battlefield and were busy fighting against the Afghan security forces.<\/p>\n
“We (the Afghan government) have neither signed nor been a party to this agreement (peace agreement between the US and Taliban) nor have we ratified it, and from our legal point of view and our obligations, we have no responsibility for the details of its content,” he added.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Taliban spokesman Mohammad Naeem told AFP that the groups anticipate the new US administration to abide by the Doha agreement.<\/p>\n
