MONITORING (SW) \u2013 The Taliban has rejected reports of a third party mediating between them and the Afghan government representatives at the intra-Afghan talks in Doha, Qatar.
\nMohammad Naeem, spokesman for the Taliban\u2019s Qatar office told Salam Watandar the host country Qatar can voluntarily share views with the group\u2019s leader, but there are no mediators at the Doha talks.
\nThis followed reports about Qatar, Uzbekistan, Germany, Norway and Indonesia taking the role of mediators to break the deadlock hindering progress at the intra-Afghan talks. Reports suggest these countries have engaged both sides to take the process forward.
\nA former Taliban-era official, Syed Akbar Aagha told Salam Watandar that the US might have compelled Qatar to play the role of mediator.
\nCommenting on the latest developments, political analyst Rehmatullah Behzan said these mediating countries can indeed play pivotal role in breaking the deadlock at the intra-Afghan talks.
