KABUL (SW) – Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has left for Uzbekistan at the head of a delegation to participate in the meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries in Samarkand.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Zia Ahmad Takal, the deputy spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, stated in a tweet that the acting head of the ministry is expected to meet with the foreign ministers of some countries in the region on the sidelines of the meeting.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Bilal Karimi, one of the deputy spokespersons of the Islamic Emirate, told Salam Watandar that in this meeting the delegation of the Islamic Emirate will reflect the wishes of this government to the world and share a list of its achievements in this meeting.<\/p>\n

The fourth meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries will be held in the city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The foreign ministers of Russia, China, Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will attend this meeting.<\/p>\n

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will head the Russian delegation at the fourth foreign minister\u2019s meeting of the neighboring countries of Afghanistan, due in Samarkand on April 13, the Russian Foreign Ministry has reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fourth ministerial conference of Afghanistan\u2019s neighboring countries (with the participation of Russia, China, Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) is scheduled for April 13 in Samarkand (Uzbekistan). The Russian delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov,\u201d the ministry said.<\/p>\n

The meeting will discuss further steps by regional partners to facilitate an Afghan political settlement and stabilize the humanitarian and socio-economic situation in the country, the ministry specified.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven the complicated security situation and growing terrorist activity and drug production in Afghanistan, the coordination of counter-terrorist and anti-drug efforts of the region\u2019s countries is especially important,\u201d the Foreign Ministry added.<\/p>\n

\u201cSpecial attention will be paid to regional economic integration and implementation of transport and energy projects with the participation of Kabul in accordance with previously reached agreements,\u201d the ministry summed up.<\/p>\n
