KABUL (SW) \u2013 The contact groups of the Taliban and the Afghan government met again in Doha after a gap of twelve days for the proposed intra-Afghan peace talks.<\/p>\n
Nader Nadery, a member of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, negotiating team said this in a tweet.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe contact groups of IRoA (Islamic Republic of Afghanistan) & other side (Taliban) held a meeting today evening. Detailed discussions took place on the contested issues and both sides agreed to continue meeting as to reach a resolution\u201d, he tweeted.<\/p>\n
Muhammad Naeem, spokesman for the Taliban\u2019s Qatar office has confirmed the development. \u201cThis evening, a meeting was held between the contact groups of Intra-Afghan negotiations teams. During the meeting, the remaining contested issues were discussed, and it was agreed that the meetings would continue\u201d, he tweeted.<\/p>\n
Some media outlets have reported that the meetings resumed after the mediation of Zalmay Khalilzad, the US special representatives for Afghanistan reconciliation.<\/p>\n
This comes as a month has passed since the official start of the intra-Afghan peace talks in Doha, Qatar.<\/p>\n
