KABUL (SW) – Japan has been assured about security for diplomats in Kabul, said an official statement.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Interior has said via a statement Acting Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani met with Takashi Okada, Ambassador of Japan to Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
In this meeting, Mr. Haqqani welcomed the reopening of the Japanese embassy in Kabul and called it an effective step in strengthening relations between the two countries.<\/p>\n
Acting Minister of Interior Affairs has assured the full security of Japanese diplomats and representatives in this meeting.<\/p>\n
The ambassador of Japan in Afghanistan has also promised that his country will continue to support and cooperate with Afghans.<\/p>\n
According to reports, Yoshimasa Hayashi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, announced on Friday, in a press conference that his country has resumed its diplomatic activities in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
The Japanese Foreign Minister added that these activities will be carried out in a limited way at the Japanese Embassy in Kabul and the decision to start a full diplomatic mission in Kabul will be made based on other conditions.<\/p>\n
After the fall of the previous government, Japan closed its embassy in Kabul and Japanese diplomats were working temporarily from Qatar.<\/p>\n
