KABUL (SW) – Deputy foreign minister Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai has said Afghanistan seeks enhanced ties with India.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Acting Deputy Foreign Minister said this as he met with Indian Joint Secretary Foreign Affairs J.P. Singh and accompanying delegation in Kabul.<\/p>\n

Singh called ties between the two countries historic, adding that India wants to assist in line with Afghanistan\u2019s priorities with infrastructural and small projects, capacity building, educational scholarships and humanitarian aid, read a statement by Abdul Qahar Balkhi, foreign ministry spokesman.<\/p>\n

Welcoming the Indian delegation to Kabul, DFM Stanekzai thanked the Indian government for its humanitarian aid and assured the Indian side that Afghanistan, considering its balanced foreign policy, seeks enhanced political, economic and cultural relations with India as an important regional country, tweeted Balkhi.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the foreign ministry spokesman, the Indian delegation assured DFM Stanekzai of India\u2019s non-intervention policy towards Afghanistan and that <\/span>it would not interfere in Afghanistan\u2019s domestic affairs. It added Stanekzai assured the Indian delegation that the Afghan-Indian relations would move forward based on mutual respect and joint bilateral legitimate interests, and would not be influenced by other countries.<\/p>\n

To end, the two sides stressed the continuation of such meetings to strengthen bilateral relations.<\/span><\/div>\n

Separately, the Chinese Embassy Charg\u00e9 d’affaires Ding Yinan called on Deputy FM Stanekzai. The meeting focused on Afghan-China historic ties, good neighborliness, bilateral cooperation and the resumption of unfinished projects in Afghanistan, said Balkhi.<\/div>\n

DFM Stanikzai called on China to assist to contain and extinguish the fire in Nooristan province. In response, Yinan said he would promptly share the request with his government to take necessary measures following a preliminary assessment.<\/div>\n

According to Balkhi, Yinan added that the Chinese government was ready to commence projects in Afghanistan to enhance cooperation with Afghanistan.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
