Thousands of people lose jobs as Swedish Committee cease operations in Afghanistan

KABUL (SW) – In July 2023, the Islamic Emirate ordered the cessation of all Sweden activities in Afghanistan in protest against the burning of the Holy Quran in that country by an Iraqi-origin citizen. Following this decision, significant portions of the Swedish Committee’s activities for Afghanistan were halted, and as of a week ago, all its operations have come to a complete standstill.

IE signs contracts worth 4 bln Afghanis for electricity, commercial projects

KABUL (SW) – On Monday, the de-facto government of the Islamic Emirate has signed contracts worth 4 billion Afghanis for four projects in the electricity production and establishment of commercial center with private companies. The signing took place in a meeting at the Government Information and Media Center (GIMC), attended by senior officials and members of this government’s cabinet.

Islamic Emirate seeks to attend SCO meeting as an observer

KABUL (SW) – Mohammad Abdul Kabir, Acting Deputy Prim Minister for Political Affairs at the cabinet of the Islamic Emirate, said in a meeting with Zhao Xing, the Chinese Ambassador in Kabul, that the Islamic Emirate wants to be invited as an observer member in the upcoming meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Islamic Emirate rejects allegations of abusing humanitarian aid

KABUL (SW) – A day after a US senator claimed that the Islamic Emirate misused humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, the officials in the Ministry of Economy of the de-facto government say that governmental departments have no involvement in the process of distributing humanitarian aid to the needy.
