Afghanistan to import 350,000 tons of oil from Iran

KABUL (SW) – Afghanistan has inked a deal to import 350,000 tons of oil from Iran in order to control and reduce the prices in the Afghan markets.

The Ministry of Finance has announced in a newsletter that the contract for the purchase of this amount of oil was signed with an Iranian company during the visit of a delegation from the Islamic Emirate to Iran. The process of importing oil to Afghanistan will begin in the coming days, it added.

According to the newsletter, a joint delegation from the State Oil and Gas Company, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Da Afghanistan Bank, and Norm and Standard Administration has traveled to Iran to make this deal.

The Ministry of Finance said that during this trip, the delegation discussed with Iranian officials about the purchase, quality, price and transit of petroleum materials and providing the necessary facilities.

It is written in the newsletter that the two sides have agreed on the establishment of a joint committee for government-to-government or G2G contracts, the continuation of the construction of petroleum pipelines, the construction of joint refineries and the implementation of long-term contracts.
