Female TV presenters asked to wear face veil

KABUL (SW) – Authorities of the Islamic Emirate has demanded TV channels to have female presenters wear face veil while appearing on the screen.

TOLO news private television has announced that the Islamic Emirate has issued a new order to all Moby group’s visual channels, including TOLO news, to cover all female presenters’ faces during television programs.

According to TOLO news, representatives of the Ministries of Enjoining the Good and Forbidding the Evil, and Information and Culture, when announcing the order to Moby Group, called it a “final verdict” and “indisputable.”

TOLO news writes that based on the information received by this network, this order has been announced to all other media houses in Afghanistan.

On the other hand, the images posted on social networks show female TV presenters wearing masks. The new order of the Islamic Emirate has also met with reactions on social media.

A number of users have written that Afghanistan is a ‘prison for women’. Others have called the Islamic Emirate an “imposition of extremism” that makes people hate “hijab and sharia.”
