Circulation of old, damaged currency bills causing problems

KABUL (SW) – Circulation of the old and damaged currency bills are causing problems for citizens across the country.

Some citizens and money changers are complaining about the proliferation of old banknotes in the country’s markets. According to them, with each passing day, there is an increase in the number of old banknotes in the market which has harmed the money changers and the general public financially.

A number of residents told Salam Watandar that the old banknotes were given to the people by the banks in the country but they are not taking them back now.

They want the Islamic Emirate to collect old banknotes from the country’s markets and introduce new ones instead.

At the same time, the rise of old money in the country’s markets has hurt some money changers.

According to money changers, Bank Milli Afghanistan and Da Afghanistan Bank have recently stopped accepting old banknotes from money changers. They want banks to buy old banknotes from money changers.

We tried to get Da Afghanistan Bank’s opinion on this, but we got no response despite repeated calls.
