Inclusive public gathering to solidify internal legitimacy

KABUL (SW) – A large and inclusive public gathering would be held to solidify internal legitimacy of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, said officials.

The officials of the Islamic Emirate have announced the holding of a large meeting for the internal legitimacy with the participation of representatives from all ethnic groups and provinces in the near future.

Abdul Haq Hammad, in charge of overseeing media publications at the Ministry of Information and Culture, told Salam Watandar that the Islamic Emirate has been trying for two months to solve existing problems in consultation with the people.

He added that for this purpose, a large meeting similar to the Loya Jirga or the national council is to be held in the near future. According to Hamad, the issue of legitimacy of the Islamic Emirate system will also be discussed in this meeting.

However, Hafiz Rehman, the deputy head of Hezb-e-Islami led by Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, said that the participants in the meeting should be chosen by the people and should not be held in a ‘dramatic way’ like the previous ones. He added that it is not yet clear where, when and under whose leadership this meeting will be held.

On the other hand, Sayed Akbar Agha, an expert on political issues, called for the meeting to be held as soon as possible, saying that holding such a large meeting at the national level is one of the demands of the Afghan people so that they can share their views and demands with the Islamic Emirate.

Given the current situation in Afghanistan, a number of women rights activists are also emphasizing holding such meetings at the national level and resolving issues through dialogue.

According to them, holding this meeting will help the Islamic Emirate gain internal legitimacy and be recognized worldwide.

Tajur Kakar, Executive Director of the Afghan Women’s Solidarity Foundation and a women’s rights activist, stressed the need for women to attend the meeting.

Earlier, the international community and a number of politicians called for such large summits to discuss the legitimacy of the regime and other important national issues, calling it the only solution to Afghanistan’s current problems.
