Western zone exports rise by 40 per cent

HERAT CITY (SW) – The net exports from the western zone of the country have witnessed a notable spike of nearly 40 per cent, said officials.

Local officials in the western part of the country say that in the current solar year, goods worth more than $ 200 million have been exported from different provinces here.

Mohammad Osman Ansari, head of the exporters’ union here, told Salam Watandar that this year the export of goods produced in this area has increased by 40% compared to last year.

Mohajer Farahi, head of Herat’s customs, also said that with the rise to power of the Islamic Emirate, the scope of corruption in the customs of the western region has been eliminated and now more than 50 trucks of export goods are transported abroad daily.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Zubair Deenparvar, head of the Herat Department of Industry and Trade, stressed that they have made valuable plans to meet the challenges of traders and increase exports, and are working to create more airports in Herat for exports.

Local officials in Herat also added that widespread corruption and the presence of mafias affiliated with prominent figures in the former government at Herat customs had made the export process and economic activities in the province very challenging.

According to them, all the existing challenges to the export of goods from the producers of the western provinces have now been resolved.
