KABUL (SW) – Women gathered in the capital Kabul on Monday calling for roles in the government structure.

A number of members of the Afghan Women’s Solidarity Union held a meeting in Kabul and once again called for their inclusion in the government. They said that the Islamic Emirate should take effective measures to empower women in society and place them in the government structure.

Mojgan Yusufzai, a member of the Afghan Women’s Solidarity Union, saidthat women’s rights in the previous regime were given to them in a dramatic way while the Islamic Emirate should pay serious attention in this regard.

According to Yusefozi, the Islamic Emirate should prepare the ground for the presence of women in the government structure by preparing a safe environment. “Women should participate in the government and not deprive us of what God has given us as a right,” she added. “Pay serious and comprehensive attention to the empowerment of Afghan women. We are neither in favor of extremism nor in favor of division.”

Meanwhile, Tajur Kakar, Executive Director of the Afghan Women’s Solidarity Union, proposed the selection of two women deputies in the Ministries of Education and Higher Education. She also said that elementary schools should be handed over to female teachers to teach students.

According to her, projects and programs implemented to empower women should be managed by women. “Give the Ministry of Women’s Affairs back to Afghan women so that Afghan women have a specific address to address their problems and give suggestions to the Islamic Emirate through this ministry,” she added.

We wanted to have the views of the spokesmen of the Islamic Emirate in this regard, but we did not succeed despite repeated calls.
