WHO dispatches 186 metric tons of medical aid to Afghanistan

MONITORING (SW) – The World Health Organization said it has dispatched at least 186 metric tons of medical equipment to Afghanistan in the past two months.

The WHO said in a series of tweets that the aid had been sent to Afghanistan on nine flights since late August.

These shipments include essential medicines and other essential medical items that have been sent to health centers across Afghanistan. According to the World Health Organization, the aid provided is enough for 2.5 million people in Afghanistan.

Earlier, the head of the World Health Organization had traveled to Kabul to review the health situation in Afghanistan and called for immediate global assistance to prevent the collapse of the country’s health system.
