University teacher wears coffin in protest

KABUL (SW) – Wearing coffin, Mohammad Saber Insandost, a professor at a private university in Kabul, took to the streets today with his family to protest against the poor political, economic, social, civil and cultural situation in Afghanistan.

“We are unemployed and hungry, women are deprived of work and our daughters are deprived of education, Our Islamic and human rights and freedoms are taken away”, he said.

He lamented that the entire world is watching all this happening in Afghanistan and remaining silent.

“Joe Biden is anti-Afghan, he betrayed us!” One of the slogans carrying by Insandost, said.

He said that main purpose of today’s protest demonstration was to raise voice against poverty and unemployment, the deprivation of women and girls of work and education, the deprivation of civil rights and freedoms, and the silence of the world community.

The protest march by this university professor and his family members started at around 9 am on Wednesday from the Salim Karvan crossroads to the center of the Shahr Nau, but according to him, it ended more than an hour late as he was stopped by the forces of the Islamic Emirate.

Earlier this week, a university professor was insulted and beaten at a checkpoint in the fourth district of Kabul.

University professor Waqif Nouri told Salam Watandar that the forces of the Islamic Emirate had insulted and beaten him at the checkpoint after learning that he was a university professor. According to Nouri, he was interrogated for more than ten minutes and his car was inspected.

Meanwhile, after the appointment of the new chancellor for the Kabul University, a number of university professors told Salam Watandar that they had decided to resign.
