Condemnation of the Taliban’s decision on female students continues

KABUL (SW) – The Taliban’s move not to allow female students return to school continues to be criticized by various segments of the society two days after the decision of the Ministry of Education of the Islamic Emirate.

Officials at Movement of Change for Afghanistan party said in this connection on Sunday that depriving girls of education is unacceptable and the Taliban must reverse its decision.

Fauzia Kofi, head of the party, told a news conference in Kabul via mobile phone that female schoolteachers should encourage female students to continue their education and provide opportunities to reopen schools.

Kofi added that now is the time for the Taliban to allow girls to be educated and to find a suitable educational environment for them. “Dear sisters, go to school and dear teachers, stand by your students in protest, and dear brothers, today is an opportunity for you to prove your claim that we will not go back to oppression, backwardness”, she said.

Meanwhile, Tarnam Saeedi, a women’s rights activist, said on the occasion that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is trying to free Afghanistan’s frozen financial assets in the United States by worsening the situation of girls and women.

Criticism of the Islamic Emirate’s actions against women and female students continues as the Save the Children has reported that not allowing girls to attend school is a shocking human rights violation.
