‘Decisions imposed by force would not yield positive results’

KABUL (SW) – Abdullah Abdullah, former chairman of the high council for national reconciliation, has said that decisions imposed by force would not yield positive outcome.

In a social media post, he said imposing demands by force has never had the desired effect and has continued to cause suffering for people.

In a message posted on his Facebook page, he expressed sorrow over the killing of Fahim Dashti, spokesman for the National Resistance Front, General Abdul Wadud Zara, and several others in Panjshir.

Fahim Dashti was nephew of Abdullah Abdullah while Abdul Wadud Zara was nephews of Ahmad Shah Massoud, Afghanistan’s national hero. Officials at the National Resistance Front said yesterday that the two along with a number of other members of the National Resistance Front were killed in a Taliban attack in Panjshir.

Although the National Resistance Front did not provide details on how Fahim Dashti was killed, but the Taliban said Dashti was not killed on the battlefield by the group.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman and acting head of the Taliban Ministry of Information and Culture, told a news conference yesterday that Fahim Dashti was killed in a clash between members of the Resistance Front.

However, Abdullah said that Fahim Dashti had worked for enlightenment for the past 20 years, striving for media institutions to promote the professional values of journalism, the institutionalization of freedom of expression, and the free flow of information in society.

Abdullah Abdullah also described Abdul Wadud Zara as a good friend, a “pure fighter” and an experienced man who had served in various military and security positions.
