60 security forces surrender to Taliban in Sar-e-Pul

SAR-E-PUL (SW) – A member of the Sar-e-Pul provincial council has reported the surrender of at least 60 security forces to the Taliban in the province.

Asadullah Khoram, a member of Sar-e-Pul provincial council, told Salam Watandar that the fourth army battalion in Baghawi villag and three security checkpoints in Sang-e-Tudeh area of ​​the province fell to the Taliban with all military equipment.

He said as many as 50 soldiers and 10 policemen, after several days of being under the siege of the Taliban, surrendered. He added that the area was surrounded by the Taliban from four directions and if the negligence of security leadership continued, the entire province would fall to the Taliban.



The provincial council member added that the situation in the Suzma Qala district of the province was currently fragile where the security forces were under siege at two checkpoints.

Salam Watnadar wanted to have the views of the officials of the 209th Shaheen Corps on this, but to no avail.



Meanwhile, Inayatullah Babar Farahmand, deputy head of the High Council of National Reconciliation, has warned of a deteriorating security situation in Sar-e-Pul province. In a social media post, he said the fighting was taking place in the province and the forces stationed in these areas are facing shortage of ammunition and food.

He said only 30 members of the special forces have been sent to the area. He also demanded more airstrikes be carried out.
