KABUL (SW) – Health officials announced on Saturday that a total of 119,840 people in 34 provinces have received the coronavirus vaccine so far.
According to Ministry of Public Health officials, Kabul, Herat, Nangarhar and Kunar provinces have the highest number of vaccinated people, respectively. Officials said 73,011 health workers have been vaccinated across the country so far. This figure is the highest number of vaccinated among all sections of society.
Vaccinated people include health workers, media workers, teachers, government employees over the age of 18, prisoners, returnees from neighboring countries and other segments of society, officials said.
According to officials, 22,895 teachers in 33 provinces have been vaccinated so far. The number of vaccinated teachers is the highest after the number of vaccinated health workers.
The vaccination drive officially began two months back.
Meanwhile, according to the daily reports by the Ministry of Public Health, 366,098 people have been tested for coronavirus in the country since the beginning of the spread of the corona virus over a year ago. Of these, 57,144 people have been infected with the virus and 2,521 have lost their lives due to the virus. 51,963 people recovered after first getting infected.
