Rich tributes paid to Alishir Navai

HERAT (SW) – The 15th Century legendary literary figure Alishir  Navai was remembered at an international seminar “Reading the Thoughts of Amir Alishir Navai” in Herat on Wednesday.

This was in connection with the 580th anniversary of the birth of this world-renowned poet, writer, politician, linguist and painter. Delegates from Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Turkey also took part in the seminar, which was attended by a number of ministers, researchers, novelists, cultural figures and more than 1,500 domestic guests from Afghanistan.

At the beginning of the seminar, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani’s video message was played. President Ghani in his messaged highlighted the role of Amir Alishir Navai in the flourishing of science, literature, construction and development of culture and civilization in during his time.

The President considered the presence of the representatives of the regional countries in this seminar as a tribute to the common culture. “The role of regional cooperation in the field of culture and economy and the ideas of the peace-loving thinkers will lead us to a path free of violence. We consider the role of culture important in an environment free of violence, regional cooperation and national unity.”

Born in Herat in 1441, Alisher Nava’i was a prominent figure during the Timurid Empire when Herat became one of the leading cultural and intellectual centers in the Muslim world.
