‘No country supportive of the return of Taliban regime’

 

KABUL (SW) – Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar said on Monday no country in the world is supportive of the return the Taliban regime.

Addressing the government’s accountability drive program, he said a regional consensus is in place for the peace process in Afghanistan. According to the Foreign Minister, the countries of the region and the international community are opposed to the Taliban’s ‘Emirate’ and are pro-democracy..

“Countries do not accept the return of the Taliban regime in any form,” said Mohammad Hanif Atmar, adding there is a strong regional consensus in the region and the world. There is this consensus in the world. He said preserving the system of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan is not only a value, but it benefits everyone.

Atmar added that the first mission of the Foreign Ministry is to bring peace and end the war in the country. According to him, 15 Islamic countries have declared the current war in Afghanistan as ‘haram’ i.e. illegitimate.

The Foreign Minister said that there has been significant achievements in diplomacy regarding the sectors of economy, energy, trade and investment.
