Three female journalists killed in Jalalabad

 

KABUL (SW) – Three female journalists were killed and another woman was injured in an armed attack in Nangarhar province, security officials said.

A government source in the province said the women were on their way home from work when they were attacked by the unknown attackers.

All victims were employee of the local Enekas Radio and Television. Gulzada Sangar, a spokeswoman for the Nangarhar Regional Hospital, said the bodies of three female journalists and an injured woman had been taken to the hospital.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Less than three months ago, Malala Maiwand, a journalist of the same media outlet was killed in Jalalabad.

This has been yet another bloody year for journalists in Afghanistan. At least 10 journalists and media workers have been killed in Afghanistan in the past six months.
