Fallen soldiers’ mother, wives and children long for peace

GARDEZ (SW) – Losing four of her sons in the ranks of the security forces, their grieving old mother lives in a rented mud house in Gardez city deprived of many rights.

In conversation with Salam Watandar, the four martyred soldiers’ mother said she was grappling with many difficulties of life while taking care of the many young orphans at home. She has also been deprived of the many rights granted to the families of fallen soldiers by the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled.

The elderly mother of the four slain soldiers while narrating the heart-breaking tale of helplessness and compulsion, said she received the bodies of her martyred sons, Akbar Gul, Ibrahim, Abdullah and Hamidullah, at the same mud-house.

She said her four sons were all what she had in the world, and she had raised them after so many hardships. According to her, her sons loved their homeland and never hesitated to sacrifice their lives for it. Now, the mother of the four fallen soldiers has been left alone to take care of her grandchildren.

The bereaved mother said she considers Afghanistan as her pride and honor, and if she had more children, she would have sent them to the army as well to protect the homeland, soil and the people. She said loneliness, grief and helplessness have made her forget everything about her martyred sons. The soldier’s mother said she has to take care of the children otherwise she would have not hesitated to go and sacrifice herself for the sake of the homeland.
