Abdullah blames Taliban for stalemate in talks

KABUL (SW) – Abdullah Abdullah, chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation has sharply criticized the Taliban for hindering and delaying progress in intra-Afghan talks.

In a statement on Friday, he said the Taliban delegation had delayed the start of the second round of talks in Doha on the pretext of unreasonable excuses and motives. He added that instead of discussing key issues, ending war and violence, killing of Muslims and alleviating the suffering of the people, the Taliban delegation is engaged in trips and marginal discussions.

Taliban delegations have recently traveled to Iran and Moscow.

The head of the HCNR said that Taliban fighters continue to fight and use violence against the Afghan people.

Abdullah emphasized the Afghan government delegation is present in Doha with full authority and can enter into talks on all issues. He added that the delegation has the full support of the HCNR, political leaders and the people of Afghanistan.

He added the issue of Afghanistan is primarily related to Afghans and they should sit together to end the war, and based on the guidelines and guidelines of Islam, custom and international law, and taking into account the supreme interests of the country.

Last week, Rasul Talib, Ghulam-Farooq Majroh and Sharifa Zurmati, the members of Afghan government’s peace delegation in Doha, told reporters at an online session that there was a stalemate in the peace talks. They cited the Taliban’s unwillingness to continue the talks as the reason for the halt.

Nearly a month has passed since the start of the second round of peace talks between government delegations and the Taliban in Doha, the capital of Qatar, but these talks have not progressed so far.
