President sacks finance minister Arghandiwal

 

KABUL (SW) – The Administrative Office of the President on Saturday announced sacking of the finance minister Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal.

As per the decree, Mohammad Khalid Payenda has been appointed to replace Arghandiwal.

As per the presidential office, Arghandiwal has been sacked for delay in the collection of taxes, lack of cooperation in an assessment by a joint team of alleged illegal appointments and prevention of the assessments, weak management, lack of commitment to good governance values, not obeying the article 77 of the Constitution in his activities, and violating decrees and directions of the High Office of the President, the Administrative Office of the President.

Prior to him, the President sacked health minister Ahmad Jawad Usmani.

Both Arghandiwal and Usmani did manage to earn vote of confidence of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) last year.
