Government dissolves State Ministry headed by Seema Samar

KABUL (SW) – The government has dissolved the State Ministry for Human Rights and International Relations that was working under its female head Seema Samar.

In conversation with Salam Watandar, Seema Samar confirmed the move. She said that she had not been consulted about the dissolution of the Ministry of State for Human Rights and International Relations and did not know why the government had taken this decision.

She said that the issue of her dismissal has not been discussed with her, but her colleagues have given her a form showing that the ministry has been dismissed. She added the move was proposed by the Office of Presidential Affairs and has been approved by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.

Seema Samar was appointed to this position last year along with a staff of seven members. She previously served as chairperson for the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission for more than a decade and a half.
