WB postpones transfer of $ 180 million to the government

KABUL (SW) – The World Bank has postponed its pledged support of $ 180 million to the Afghan government.

According to a letter by the WB, the fund has been postponed due to the government’s alleged failure in reporting back on projects related to the rural development.

The letter said the government was asked multiple times to report back on the funds utilized in this regard, however, no reports were submitted. The WB has also halted another transaction of $ 20 million to the government due to amendments in the law about private and public sector partnership.
