MoF ‘sabotaging’ vehicle registration drive

KABUL (SW) – The first Vice President Amrullah Saleh has charged the Ministry of Finance for deliberately and knowingly sabotaging the process of registration of undocumented vehicles.

In one of his hallmark social media post, Saleh urged officials at the Ministry of Finance on Thursday to stop sabotaging this process and instead serve the people. The VP threatened to report a large number of the MoF officials to the Attorney General’s Office in this connection.

In a part of his post, Saleh said concerned departments have begun confiscating vehicles that lack proper documentations. “Hundreds of undocumented vehicles, as we promised, have been seized from the lawbreakers and handed over to police.”

According to Saleh, one of the reasons for the reduction in crimes in Kabul has been the fact that with these new measures, the offenders cannot remain anonymous and has become traceable.

In connection with the killing of three officials of the Da Afghanistan Bank, Saleh said the media and the family of the victims wanted access to relevant videos that were in the possession of the NDS. He assured that they will have these videos in few days.
