KABUL (SW) – First Vice President Amrullah Saleh has acknowledged the shooting of multiple rockets on Kabul by unknown assailants earlier this week as a security and intelligence failure.

In a social media post, Saleh said the sort of rockets fired on various parts of the city are usually found in the northern outskirts of Kabul. He added intensive work has commenced to reach out to the victims and areas damaged in this shelling.

At least eight people lost their lives when multiple rocket attacks rocked Kabul on Saturday, officials confirmed.

According to the defense ministry, three brothers, all members of the security forces, lost their lives on the same day when their vehicle was blown up in a magnetic bomb blast.

Interior Ministry spokesman Tariq Arian said in a statement a total of 23 rockets were fired in the attacks. He confirmed eight people lost their lives and 31 others got injured.

There was been no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. The Taliban denied any involvement in the attack.

The attacks causing widespread fears were widely condemned.
