70 security forces ‘killed’ in clashes with Taliban in Takhar

 

TALUQAN (SW) – Security sources in Takhar province say that about 70 security forces have been killed and injured in clashes with Taliban insurgents here.

A security source in Takhar province, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Salam Watandar that these security personnel had been killed in clashes between security forces and the Taliban in the Masjid Sefid area of ​​Baharak district.

Sayed Abdul Qayyum Hairat, Takhar’s director of health, told Salam Watandar that the bodies of 34 security personnel have been transferred to the province’s central hospital.

In the meantime, Javad Hijri, spokesman for the Takhar governor, only confirmed that the security chief of the Takhar police command had been killed and did not comment on total casualties among security forces.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the clashes.

Takhar is one of the most insecure provinces in the northeast of the country, where Taliban fighters are active around the provincial capital.
