KABUL (SW) – The quest for safer and prosperous life continues to inspire humans towards migration, a phenomenon that tied to human destiny and past.
This phenomenon varies according to different political, social, cultural, economic and other developments in human life in various parts of the world. The phenomenon of migration in the past was more closely associated with challenges and threats such as war and insecurity, but more recently other factors such as search for better job and educational opportunities are added to it.
Zamir is an Afghan student who has chosen India to continue his education to achieve his goal.
After graduating from a local school, he participated in the university entrance exam in 2015 and after passing the entrance exam, he entered the Faculty of Communication and Journalism at the Kabul University. However, he was not very interested in this field, because his favorite field was administration and business.
He studied for three semesters at Kabul University. His reluctance to pursue this field led him to look for alternative ways. After much effort, Zamir received an Indian scholarship and traveled to India to study in his favorite field.
Now, Zamir is happy to study in his favorite field and is currently studying at Bangalore University, one of India’s prestigious public universities. He says he is one of the top students at the university.
Aziz Ahmad Oryakhil, a spokesman for the Ministry of Higher Education, said immigration was the best option for education, adding that some 25,000 Afghan students were currently studying for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in other countries.
According to Oryakhil, the number of students going abroad to study is changing every year, depending on the number of scholarships offered to Afghan students in different countries.
Fariha Jabarkhil, an immigration information center consultant on immigration routes, told Salam Watandar the center offers a variety of packages for those planning to immigrate, including work packages, short-term courses and scholarships.
Jabarkhil mentioned irregular migration proves risky, costly and time consuming. She said that citizens who sought irregular migration in order to achieve a comfortable life, did not reach their destination despite spending thousands of dollars. She said many are returned to their home countries, however, those choosing regular migration have greater chances of success.
